Why does my Calex HDMI Syncbox LED strip not (fully) match the colours on my television screen?

  • Updated

There may be several reasons why the LED strip does not synchronise with the image, or only synchronises partially.:

  1. No source device connected:
The Calex HDMI Syncbox only works when an external source device is connected to the Syncbox's HDMI input.
    Examples of source devices are:

    • Television receiver (set-top box)
    • Gameconsole (e.g. PlayStation of Xbox)
    • Streaming device (e.g. Apple TV or Chromecast)

If the Syncbox is only connected to the television via the HDMI output, without a source device on the HDMI input, it will not receive a video signal and the LED strip will not light up.

Correct connection: source device → Syncbox HDMI input → Syncbox HDMI output → television.

  2. Synchronisation in the Calex Smart App has not started:
In addition to the correct connection, synchronisation must also be activated via the Calex Smart App.
If this function has not been started, the LED strip will not respond to the image, even if the source device is properly connected.
  3. The LED strip only lights up partially (e.g. the upper part does not respond):
This is often caused by playing films or videos with black bars at the top and bottom of the screen (widescreen format). The Syncbox then detects less image information at the top, which means that part of the strip does not light up.
This can be easily resolved by adjusting the position of the LED strip in the Calex Smart App. Click here for the instructions.

By checking the above points, the Syncbox can receive the correct video signal and allow the LED strip to fully synchronise with the image.
