Before you start adding this CALEX SMART Dimmer, write down the name and password of your Wi-Fi network.
Please refer to your router manual or contact your internet provider for help on how to change settings.
Step 1: Preparation
- Turn off the power at the circuit breaker and verify with a voltage tester.
- If there’s an existing dimmer or switch, remove it and free up the wiring.
Step 2: Wiring Connections
Follow these steps to connect the wiring to the Calex Smart Dimmer:
A. Connecting the Phase (L)
- Live (L) wire - Connect the live wire to one of the two L contacts. This provides power input to the dimmer.
- Loop-through (optional) - Use the second L contact to loop through power to another switch or dimmer if needed.
Tip: Make sure the live wire is correctly identified. This is typically a brown wire in most European homes, but always confirm with a voltage tester.
B. Connecting the Light (Output)
- Light wire - Connect the wire that goes to the light to the dimmable output on the dimmer. This controls the light’s dimming function.
C. Connecting Pulse Switches (P-Contact)
- P-contact - Connect the pulse switch wire to the P-contact on the dimmer.
- Multiple pulse switches - You can connect multiple pulse switches in parallel to the P-contact to create a two-way (hotel) switch setup if desired.
Note: Pulse switches must be momentary switches with a spring-back mechanism. These switches send a brief signal to the dimmer, allowing you to turn the light on/off.
Step 3: Test the Installation
- Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.
- Test if the light works via the pulse switch(es) and ensure everything functions correctly.
