LAN Control

One of your competitors, Meross, has the ability to control smart devices locally when you're connected to the same network as your smart devices. This makes the devices repond much more quickly to commands and means that the app and devices all work in the event of an internet outage or a Calex server outage. Are there any plans to introduce local control, especially now that Matter and Thread products are becoming more popular?

    Hi Andy,

Sorry, we missed your message for a moment.

Most of our recent CALEX Smart Devices already support local LAN control. If you are connected to the same Wi-Fi network with your Smartphone, communication will take place locally.

The device only needs to connect to the external network through the router and register to cloud server when it is added for the first time, but after the cloud server registration is completed, even if the external network is disconnected, it also can be controlled through the LAN.

Note that, for example, a Video Doorbell without an internet connection can only control a connected RF chime locally. Notifications on ringing are then not sent to your Calex Smart app as this depends on a cloud connection.

    With kind regards,

  • Thanks for getting back to me Brian. Is there any way to check which devices support LAN control? I have a selection of UK smart plugs and power strips from Calex (I suspect they're too old for LAN control) and I'm trying to make my smart home a bit more resilient to network outages.

  • Hi Andy,

I need to find out if we can make this visual in the CALEX Smart App by device.

For now we can check for you if your devices support local LAN control, however, for this I need some specific data that we are better not to share here.

If you would like to create a ticket via https://help.calex.eu, then choose "Submit a request". Then we can take it from there.

    With kind regards,
